The story is a philosophical debate. Beauty vows to Pleasure to remain forever young and devoted to pleasure. However, Time and Disillusionment (which more accurately translates as Sobriety or Understanding of Truth) convince Beauty that earthly appeal is fleeting.
In the end, Beauty realizes the futility of earthly pleasures and turns to God.
