An anti-war song based on lyrics by B. Brecht written in the USA for radio broadcasts aimed at Germany during World War II.
The song lists the gifts a soldier sends his wife from occupied countries shoes from Prague a silk dress from Oslo lace from Brussels etc. In the final verse when the war reaches Russia the wife receives the final `gift` - a widow`s shroud.
