The title is directly related to the plot of the 1949 British film The Glass Mountain for which Nino Rota wrote the music.
The film tells the story of an English pilot shot down over the Dolomites during World War II. He is rescued by a local girl and nursed back to health in a mountain village. She tells him an ancient Alpine legend about Glass Mountain where the ghost of a deceived and dead girl dwells at its summit luring her unfaithful lover to the edge of the abyss dooming him to his death.
The play uses the musical theme from the film score.
