Karl Elmendorf (conductor)
The first attempt at recording a `complete` Wagner opera. Bayreuth 1928, Columbia recorded this opera on 38 78rpm sides, Act 1 and Act 2 are virtually complete, but sadly Act 3 was badly cut to fit the discs. Cast includes Nanny Larsen-Todsen (Isolde), Gunnar Graarud (Tristan), Anny Helm (Bragane), Rudolf Bockelmann (Kurwenal) and Ivar Andresen (Konig Marke). The conductor was Karl Elmendorff. A landmark recording.
