`Spanish party` (`Chess`) for violin and cello conceived of Yuri Galperin cycle of musical duos `The Royal Games`. Based on the composer of the Spanish game, played by great chess players V. Steinitz and V. Blackburn in London in 1876.
Form of composing-follow, move for move (marked figures in the score) the most party. As an algorithm, was taken a chessboard, in the cells of which a overtone series is vertically used, and sounds corresponding to the Latin alphabet are horizontally used. In addition, each chess piece is assigned a certain musical element: for example, the course of the elephant is characterized by glissando, horse – gruppetto, the pawn has no personality, and therefore no element is assigned to it. Each event on the chessboard corresponds to a musical `event`: a certain rhythmic figure, a characteristic motif, an octave move, etc.
