The quartet consists of five movements: `Fanfares`, `Fugue`, `Surprise`, `The Old Men and Fly (a little Ballet)`, and `Sonatina`. The fourth movement is based on music composed for the eponymous film by Pavel Seplyarsky. The total duration of the piece is approximately 9 minutesBy composing this quartet, the author sought to pay tribute to his teacher - the eminent musicologist and master of polyphony Viktor Pavlovich Frayonov (1930-2002).
