The piece is an adaptation of musical material from Saariaho`s violin concerto `Graal théâtre`, but is an independent original composition.
Commissioned by the Fundación Albéniz for the Queen Sofia School of Music in Madrid. It consists of three parts. The music utilizes modern playing techniques, such as gradual transitions from a normal sound to playing at the bridge (sul ponticello) or at the fingerboard (sul tasto), as well as harmonics and playing with varying bow pressure. The piece is often performed and recorded together with another work by Saariaho for the same line-up, `Tocar` (2010). Õ Close Show records by: listenings count | performer's rating | alphabetical |
