Charles G. Dawes (1865--1951)
The `Melody in A major`, was written in Illinois in 1912 and became a well known violin and piano piece. Dawes was an American banker and politician who was the 30th Vice President of the United States (Calvin Coolidge was President). The `Melody in A major` was therefore played at many official functions as his signature tune. It was later transformed into the pop song, `It`s All In The Game` which has been recorded by numerous artists like: Van Morrison, Cliff Richard, Nat `King` Cole, Brook Benton, Elton John, Mel Carter, Barry Manilow, and Keith Jarrett.
