Hoddinott symphonies are very rarely performed, even in Wales.
(Probably too difficult to perform, or some similar reason). He is a
major composer of the 20th Century. Nos 2,3,5,and 6 have been recorded
but I never thought this beautiful symphony would ever see the light
of day. I get hours of pleasure listening and getting to know it.
This performance just might be the 1970 London premier with the Halle
Orchestra under Maurice Handford (The second of only two performances,
ever!)- But that`s just speculation.

Hi, I`m glad you found
it. A fascinating symphony.
I`m sure I got it from a website called unsungcomposers.com which
once contained many-many free rare downloads. Sadly though I think
most of the downloads have now been removed because of copyright
issues.
