The title of the suite refers to the mythological hunter Orion, who after his death was placed in the sky as a constellation.
Saariaho explores here the opposition between the earthly (mortality) and the eternal (cosmos).
It consists of three parts:
1. Memento mori
2. Winter sky
3. Hunter
