N. Orlovsky`s string quartet is distinguished by its predominant major tonality and rapid motion. The quartet consists of five movements `Fanfares` `Fugue` `Surprise` `The Old Men and Fly a little Ballet` and `Sonatina`. The fourth movement is based on music composed for the eponymous film by Pavel Seplyarsky. The total duration of the piece is approximately 9 minutesBy composing this quartet the author sought to pay tribute to his teacher - the eminent musicologist and master of polyphony Viktor Pavlovich Frayonov 1930-2002.
