The work is dedicated to the life and ideas of the French philosopher, mystic and political activist Simone Weil (1902-1943).
The libretto was written by Amin Maalouf in French and is a dialogue between a modern narrator and the character of Simone Veil. Structure: 15 `stations` (similar to the Way of the Cross), describing different stages of Weil`s life: from working in a factory and participating in the Spanish Civil War to her death from exhaustion in London. The cast includes a soprano (narrator), choir, orchestra, and electronics. The electronics feature recordings of Simone Weil`s own lyrics.
