The composition was born under the influence of the playing of the famous saxophonist John-Edward Kelly, who for a long time asked Aho to write something for his instrument.
The impetus for writing was the Tunisian film “The Silence of the Palaces” (1994), or more precisely, the Arabic music that sounded in it, elements of which (microchromatics and ornamentation) Aho integrated into the score.
