The work is dedicated to the life and ideas of the French philosopher mystic and political activist Simone Weil 1902-1943.
The libretto was written by Amin Maalouf in French and is a dialogue between a modern narrator and the character of Simone Veil.
Structure 15 `stations` similar to the Way of the Cross describing different stages of Weil`s life from working in a factory and participating in the Spanish Civil War to her death from exhaustion in London.
The cast includes a soprano narrator choir orchestra and electronics. The electronics feature recordings of Simone Weil`s own lyrics.
